Estimation of the Per Capita of Drinking Water Consumption; A Case Study of Ardekan City, Yazd Province Abstract: Enforcement of policies related to water consumption management necessitates the evaluation of a variety of strategies leading to increased water productivity. One of these strategies is the separation of drinking water distribution from other uses. In this regard, the per capita of drinking water consumption plays a major role in the design of systems for drinking water supply and distribution. However, it seems that few studies have been conducted on the estimation of this amount in Iran. Therefore, the numbers and statistics cited in the references and technical reports are either dependent on standards (IRI MPORG Publication No. 3-117) or extracted from other studies in similar countries in terms of climate and culture. The present study aimed to estimate the per capita consumption of drinking water in Ardakan, Yazd Province, through field studies and a survey of subscribers who collect their required drinking water from public water distributors. For this purpose, the research background at the international level was reviewed and then a statistical methodology was developed and implemented for the survey and field studies. Finally, the data were statistically analyzed and the per capita consumption of drinking water in this area was determined.

Besides reducing leakage and consumption, pressure management affects occurrence of new bursts in water supply systems. Over the past two decades, several researchers throughout the world have studied the benefits of pressure management on reduction in the burst frequencies. During this period a wide assortment of empirical models have been developed to determine pressure-burst relationships such as pressure-leakage relationships. This paper aims to conduct a comprehensive review of these studies, relationships and empirical models pertaining to the effects of pressure management on the break rates of pipes in water supply systems. For this purpose, the developed relationships and empirical models by various researchers over the last twenty years were discussed and the advantages and disadvantages of them were summarized. Based on the review, the better understand of pressure- burst relationships could be founded and the results could be used in the analysis and evaluation of pressure management schemes in water supply systems.

Lost Money is the most important problem companies which providing public services, usually governments compensate this loss-making that it undermine the country's economic system in the long run. Water and sewage Company is as one of the companies offering these services have been loss-making and it certainly will be looking for ways to get out of this mode. This research seeks to provide solutions to increase revenue in Water and Wastewater Company of Mashhad. In this regard, the SWOT method is used. In order to we have used to complete a questionnaire and interviews with experts, for to identify the internal and external factors affecting the increase on revenue, and then with this method have been suggested solutions in this regard. Suggestions are at three categories including “ways to increase revenue in terms of technical, solutions for increase revenue in terms of labor, and solutions to decrease costs”. In the first category include control and inspection, cost management, shortening of projects, change of contract type with contractors. In the second category, factors include; changing the type of meter reading contract, receiving water from all areas, collecting faster of revenues, organizational order, implementing new technologies, coordinating with other urban institutions, coordination Inside the organization, and in the third category, the most important ones include creating motivation in employees for improve productivity, reforming the system of reprisal and encouraging employees, locating the right employees in the assignment posts based on meritocracy, to statute the interest of the personnel in increasing revenues company.

Water supply networks are the major infrastructures in cities and villages which are implemented for water distribution. At the moment, the networks are analyzed based on demand analysis method in which the demands at different nodes are always constant and reachable and pressure is assumed as a constraint to evaluate the system stability. Various criteria are utilized in analyzing networks of which performance criteria could be mentioned. These criteria are developed and analyzed based on binary logic. One of the greatest defects of this method is presenting unreal and insensible results at threshold values as well as having no flexibility confronting experts’ knowledge. In this study, a new method is presented that utilizes performance criteria including reliability in time, combinational reliability (elasticity, water age, and entropy), resilience and vulnerability. In this paper, a new sustainability index is developed to evaluate the water supply networks using the capabilities of membership function in fuzzy logic. The usefulness of this method is demonstrated with optimized specifications of Hanoi network. Comparison of the proposed and traditional methods show the improvement in its estimation, showing that the new approach is very effective and practical.

The importance of water distribution networks in social health and their role in urban and rural public service has resulted in many studies on these networks performance. Most of the studies focused on hydraulic and qualitative aspects, while the environmental aspects are less considered. In this study, the environmental impacts of production, transportation and installation of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Ductile Iron (DI) and Fiber cement pipes were investigated. Furthermore, considering specific trench for each pipe, environmental impacts of different trenches were compared in installation phase. In this paper, SimaPro 8 was used to evaluate the life cycle of scenarios. The results indicated that DI and PVC pipes have respectively the highest and lowest environmental impacts in the whole process of production, transportation and installation. The results of this study could be considered as a guideline in designing and implementing water distribution networks with the lowest environmental effects. In this paper, a part of water distribution network of Tehran is chosen as the case study to estimate the reduction potential of environmental impacts.

One of the main reasons of regional subsidence is drawdown of groundwater level due to Overexploitation of aquifers which can lead to irrecoverable damage to soil deposits. The regional subsidence that has been inflicting Iran in recent years, have greatly damaged to agricultural sites, residential buildings, roads, power transmission lines, etc. The Damaneh City, located at west of Isfahan Province, has been affected by this phenomenon extensively. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the level of depletion of groundwater resources and subsequently land subsidence in this region. The results indicate that drawdown of groundwater level had a direct influence on the subsidence occurrence in the studied region. Considering that the studied area is one of the most important Isfahan's agricultural regions, the primary exploitation of aquifers is related to agricultural purposes. The results showed that water table has dropped 20 m in the Damaneh city during 1977-2014. Accord-ingly, it is essential to use artificial recharge and changing cultivation pattern to revive aquifer and also prevent damage induced by land subsidence.

One of the essential orders in today’s organizations, are knowledge management. Acquiring tacit knowledge of experts in the organization and transforming it into explicit knowledge with more possibility and simplicity for sharing compared to its original implicit form, is amongst the most important processes in knowledge management. In this paper, a practice on improvement of Tehran’s Jalalieh water treatment plant regarding the filter nozzles is authored. It can be a useful paper to those in management and operation of water treatment plants.
