The prediction of stream-flow have incessantly attracted water engineer studies with due regard to its importance in the design of water structures, water intake from the rivers, planning and operation of reservoirs of dams, and erosion and sedimentation control measures in rivers. In this research, HEC-HMS model was used in prediction of daily stream-flow in the Maroun Basin, evaluating the ability and precision of this model in predicting stream-flow. For this purpose, continuous simulation of daily rainfall-runoff was performed before the prediction period using soil moisture accounting algorithm (SMA). In order to calibrate and verify the HEC-HMS model, daily stream-flow data from 1995 to 2006 and from 2007 to 2011 at the Idenak hydrometric Station were respectively used. Then, daily stream-flow at Idenak Station was predicted from 2011 to 2012. The results showed that the goodness of fit tests including Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency index, coefficient of determination and root mean square error in the runoff prediction process at Idenak station are equal to 0.56, 0.67 and 32.2 m3/s, respectively. Therefore, the HEC-HMS model has acceptable ability and precision in predicting runoff.

Phenolic compounds are amongst the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and are the most important environmental pollutants found in the waste effluent of many industries, including refineries, petrochemicals, steel industries, and iron foundries, with an average concentration of 10 to 2000 mg/l. Removing these compounds before releasing them in nature and reusing wastewater is accordingly of particular importance. Among phenol removal methods, biodegradation is an environmental friendly and cost effective method and rotating biological contactor (RBC) system is in particular recognized as one of the most efficient attached growth fixed bed wastewater treatment processes for stationary and advanced treatment with phenol removal efficiency of 85 to 99%. The advantages of RBC include resistance to hydraulic and organic shocks, little chance of creating anaerobic conditions, high sedimentation rate of sludge produced, low space requirements, very low energy costs, simplicity and easiness of operation, no need of expert personnel for supervision and operation, and low maintenance costs. The present review introduces RBC system, comparing with other phenolic purification methods, expressing the history, the reactor design and the operational parameters affecting it. Also the previous researches on phenol removal by RBC system has been evaluated.

Several sewage treatment plants are currently operational in Iran for supplying health conditions, better life of people, keeping the environment clean, and retrieval waste water and nutrient materials from collected sewage of houses and industrial units. In sewage treatment plants there are several potential health, safety and environment dangers (HSE dangers) which can cause occupational incident for personnel and through effluent wastewater which can cause soil and farmlands pollution and spread contagious disease. In this paper we recognized health, safety and environmental risks in first module of City of Urmia sewage plant and analyzed them by FMEA risk assessment method. Totally 29 HSE risks were identified from which 15 risks had high Risk Priority Number (RPN). This study proposed controlling and correctional proceeding for each of these risks. Chlorine gas leakage from disinfection unit of plant and environmental pollution (air and soil) due to the transfer of effluent from the wastewater treatment plant through the open channel to Urmia Lake have the highest RPN for which correctional and controlling approaches are proposed to prevent risks in plant.

One of the main aims of water resource planning and management is to estimate and predict groundwater quality parameters which would be used in decision-making. In this regard, many models have been developed which proposed better managements in order to maintain water quality. Most of these models require input parameters which are hardly available or their measurements are time consuming and expensive. Among them, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models inspired by human's brain are a better choice. The present studied stimulated the electrical conductivity of water quality parameters of Behbahan Plain, using ANN and ANN+PSO models and in the end compared their results with measured data. Data for NO3-, EC, Ca2+, Mg2+, SO42-, HCO3-, CL-, K+, TH and pH were collected during 2009-2016 as input data. The results indicated that the highest prediction accuracy of quality parameters was related to the ANN + PSO model so that the MAE and RMSE statistics had the minimum and had the maximum value for the model. Considering the high efficiency of artificial neural network model, by training the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm, it can be used in order to make managerial decisions and ensure the results of monitoring and reducing costs.

This Paper has studied the relationship between water consumption and value-added in the agriculture and industry sectors based on the Kuznets curve hypothesis, considering the low water demand and the need for water consumption management in different economic sectors of Iran. For this purpose, data of water consumption and value-added related to Iran's agriculture and industry sectors from 1991-2016 have been used. To analyze the relationship between variables, the method of Bootstrap Quintile Regression has been used. Results indicated that during the studied period there was a significant relationship between water consumption and agriculture value added, which is consistent with the Kuznets curve hypothesis. As production and value-added increased, water consumption has increased up to its maximum point and then with continued growth in production; water consumption has decreased. Also, there was a positive and significant linear relationship between value-added and water consumption in the industry sector. So, the Kuznets curve hypothesis was not confirm in the industry sector.

The quality and precision of the operation of instruments, such as flowmeters, pressure gauges, altimeters, and valves are of decisive importance for all water and wastewater companies (WWCs), since they are the basis for measuring and providing data on the status of the water and wastewater installations and networks and thus play an important role in the decisions made by experts and managers. Such instruments are the only means of measuring and controlling the production of water, the pressure of water distribution networks and the production of other data required by all the WWCs. Therefore, one of the main goals and policies of the WWC officials is to procure and purchase of instrumentation with high precision, as well as verification of the correct operation of the instruments over time. If such goals are set and met, the information required for the installation is accurately measured and the decisions taken are based on the correct data. A specific process is therefore required for purchase of instruments with a proper quality as well as for periodical examination of the accuracy of the instruments installed, to ensure the proper operation. In this paper, based on experiments, the problems and the most appropriate solution to the problems of purchase, optimal operation and maintenance of instruments in the water and wastewater companies are presented.
